More than 1 Trillion text messages were sent/received in 2008. That is almost triple the messages compared to 2007 (363 Billion). This is an Average of more than 3.5 billion SMS messages per day. Over 75 percent of US mobile phone subscribers have text messaging capability, and over 40 percent of 25-54 year olds send text messages daily.
